2008 Winter sled line up!!!
As the air outside cools we all start to think about what the coming winter will bring. I am very anxious to see what the new sled models will bring to the mountains this year.
Ski-doo fans this is your year. The numbers don't lie, well even if they are a little off your still lighter then the rest of the pack. The Rev-XP platform from Ski-doo is a work of art. Weight savings like we have seen in the past from Ski-doo have been impressive, but this change takes the cake for sure. The 800R motor has been improved in the areas that needed to be addressed. Ski-doo is running a new clutch set-up that should put a refreshing smile on their owner's face. If you're buying a skidoo this year get ready for a great season highmarking.
Arctic Cat for 2008 looks like it only has bold new graphics, but that is just surface changes. Arctic cat came out with yet another version of rear suspension on the M-series. The new float rear suspension is 8.5 lbs. lighter than last year and is suspended by air at the rear arm. The suspension's rear geometery is designed to float in the deep snow, and deter trenching. The new M-series was outfitted with some of the Sno-Pro steering components to save another couple of pounds, and improve steering angles. Arctic cat refined several other features on the sled that are modest but needed. The 2008 tunnel is reinforced and has large openings punched in the footwells to remove unwanted snow build up. (extra traction was added on the outside edge as well). All these changes will be sure to make a much needed improvement on the sled in the deep stuff.
Polaris comes back into the 800cc ring swinging hard. The new generation of 800cc twin from Polaris is sure to be a winner. The new engine is placed in the already proven ''RMK RAW" chassis. This sled produces 154 claimed horsepower, and is only 2.5lbs heavier than its little 700cc brother. The Dragon 800 is available in a 155,163 inch track length. Their is a whole new ball game on this 800cc from the retired old version. The new powerplant is a mono-block cylinder set up which will provide support for the cylinders, and large port openings. Polaris addressed the old crank bearing situations and the new crank has the bearings to prove it. Polaris is running a single ring style piston which should prove to be interesting.(the old skidoo stand by). This motor runs just read the magazines if you trust them. No doubt this sled we be one to watch handling is proven in this package, and the new motor sounds impressive. Polaris riders come home the 800 is back, and ready to fight "Dragon" style.
Yamaha riders looking for a great mountain fourstroke that is rider forward and has a geometery that will allow you to ride it all day long the new "Nytro MTX'' is here.
If you sit on the Apex, and the Nytro its clear which sled is built for fun in the hills. The new Nytro is style alittle like the fun loving Phazer. The big difference between the Phazer, and the Nytro is the power and floatation. The Nytro MTX has 130 horsepower, and floats on a 153x2.25 maverick track. This sled should soon rule the fourstroke mountain market. Turbo fans will enjoy the numbers this three cylinder can pr0duce. Next years movies instead of Apex after turboed Apex shot your should be seeing alot of Nytro. Mountain fourstroke sleds are evolving the Nytro is leading the pack.
There is a lot of new out there this winter, i can't wait to see how they all stack up. The aftermarket companies have got to be happy about all the new sleds out there. Just remember new sleds take time to for new products to be produced so be patient.
